Dedicated portal
This website: a single place for programme administration, participant registration, content delivery and coordination among the participating agencies. It carries the registration and selection system, the candidate portal with the online test, the digital repository and the coordination hub of the partners.
Digital resources and supporting materials
A fully accessible repository of learning materials and research assets: the Thirukkural in the Indian languages and in foreign languages, research publications, the Thirukkural Multilingual App, the Thirukkural Ground-Truth Corpus of palm-leaf manuscripts, and related websites.

A campaign across India, through academic institutions, digital media and partner universities, invites applications for the selection of 1,000 students from 1,000 colleges. Applications are received and processed on this portal.

Examination and selection
A secure, standardised online assessment of the applicants' understanding of the Thirukkural, offered in the language each applicant chose. The results are processed into a merit list of 1,000 student delegates, one from each institution.

Online orientation in 21 languages
A ten-part series of academic video lectures on the Thirukkural, translated, dubbed or subtitled into the 21 scheduled languages other than Tamil, delivered language by language, with a 20-minute live question-and-answer segment in each session.
OrientationOne-month internship
All 1,000 selected students undertake a one-month internship, and each of them will be given a stipend of ₹10,000, to deepen their understanding of the Thirukkural, its values, its philosophy and its relevance today.
Student presentation and dissemination of knowledge
Every delegate is prepared to deliver a one-hour presentation or lecture on the Thirukkural in his or her own college, under the guidance of a designated faculty mentor, so that each of the 1,000 campuses hears the couplets from one of its own students.
II Apps, videos, films, conferences and public displays
Thirukkural Multilingual App
All 1,330 couplets with the translations of CICT into the 22 scheduled languages, two Tamil commentaries, English prose, word-level grammar, metrical analysis and references to palm-leaf manuscripts. It works offline, carries no advertisements, and is released under the CC BY 4.0 licence.
Educational video series
Twenty-minute lectures on selected couplets in Indian languages, explaining their meaning, values and relevance, published on the YouTube channels of CICT and on this portal.
Thirukkural audiobooks
Recitations of the couplets with meanings, explanations and translations in several languages, designed for visually impaired students, for those who learn by listening, and for audiences who do not know Tamil.
Thirukkural Recitation App
Recitation of the entire text, couplet by couplet, with the Tamil commentary of Dr Mu. Varadarajan, for correct pronunciation and for the study of the three sections.
Short films
Fifteen-minute films that dramatise selected couplets on ethical leadership, social harmony, truthfulness, gratitude and civic duty, screened at KTS venues, on campuses and by broadcasters.
Reels and shorts
Animated videos of sixty to ninety seconds on individual couplets, made with the help of artificial intelligence, with subtitles in many languages, published every day on the social media channels of CICT.
Annual National Conference on the Thirukkural
Held in major cities with the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti and Banaras Hindu University, bringing together scholars and translators from every language region.
Public displays
Couplets with translations on passenger information systems and signboards at railway stations, airports and highway toll plazas, in coordination with Indian Railways, the Airports Authority of India and the National Highways Authority of India.
Comic books
Illustrated stories for children inspired by the Thirukkural, first in English and Hindi, distributed through school boards and available for download from this portal.
Posters and charts
Print-ready posters in many languages for schools, colleges and libraries, distributed to CBSE, KVS, JNV and state school networks, and available for download.
III Reaching students who do not speak Tamil
Daily Kural
A calendar of couplets for 200 school days, one for each morning assembly, with the translation and meaning in the language of the school, distributed as printed flip-charts and as digital packages.
Daily KuralStorytelling
Collections of scripts, guides to narration and ideas for the stage, so that students present the values of the Thirukkural through stories, speeches, skits, plays and dance-dramas.
Thirukkural Gaming App
Crosswords, puzzles, complete-the-line games, memory pairs, word-guessing and typing challenges, with interfaces in many languages and levels from beginner to scholar.
